VocabGecko beta terms
The plain-English terms for using the free VocabGecko beta. Please read them before you create an account.

Who we are
VocabGecko is run by Sergiy Kyrylkov, an individual. You can contact us at hello@vocabgecko.com. We have not appointed a UK data-protection representative. Whether an appointment is required remains under review; we do not claim an exemption.
In these terms, "we" means the individual named above, and "you" means the parent or carer who creates an account.
What these terms cover
These terms apply to the VocabGecko website and to the VocabGecko app, a vocabulary trainer for children aged 8 to 11. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use VocabGecko. Our privacy notice explains what we do with your data.
Free during the beta
VocabGecko is free during the beta. There is no payment step and no card is needed. We have not set a price yet, and we will email beta families about what comes next before anything changes.
The beta is a test. Features may change, break or be removed, and places are opened gradually, so joining the waitlist does not mean you will get one. We may also set fair limits, such as a daily limit on the cards and pictures the AI makes for each account.
No guarantee of results
VocabGecko is a practice tool. It does not guarantee any exam result, school place or improvement in scores, and nothing on the website or in the app is a promise of one.
VocabGecko is independent and not affiliated with GL Assessment, CAT4, any exam board or any school.
Your account
A parent or carer creates the account and is responsible for it. Keep your sign-in emails and your PIN private, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for how your child uses VocabGecko and for giving us accurate details. Each child gets a profile in your account. Children do not have accounts of their own.
The words you add
You are responsible for the words and sentences you add. Please add only words from your child's learning. Don't type in anything unlawful, offensive or unsuitable for children, or personal details about anyone, such as names, addresses or phone numbers.
The AI is told to refuse unsuitable words, and you approve every card before your child sees it. You stay responsible for what you add and approve.
Acceptable use
Please use VocabGecko fairly. Don't:
- try to get around the limits or the PIN lock;
- use bots or scripts to create accounts or to join the waitlist;
- interfere with the service, or try to reach other people's accounts or data;
- copy or republish VocabGecko's cards, pictures or questions in bulk; or
- use VocabGecko for anything unlawful.
Cards and pictures are written by AI
The AI can make mistakes. We build in checks for children and ask you to approve each card, but we do not guarantee that every definition, example, question or picture is accurate or suitable. Please check them, edit what you need to, and tell us at hello@vocabgecko.com about anything that is wrong.
What you own and what we may do with it
You keep your rights in the words and sentences you add. You allow us to store and process them so that we can run VocabGecko. That includes sending them to the AI services named in the privacy notice, and keeping the cards made for them in the shared bank for other families to use. VocabGecko's name, design and software belong to us.
Stopping, and changes
You can stop using VocabGecko at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@vocabgecko.com. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, or change or end the beta. We may update these terms as the beta develops. The version on this page is the current one.
Our responsibility to you
The beta is provided as it is. We take care over it, but we don't promise that it will always work, that it will be free of errors, or that nothing will be lost. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have by law, or any responsibility we cannot limit by law, such as for fraud or for death or injury caused by negligence. Beyond that, we are not responsible for losses that come from using, or not being able to use, the free beta.
Governing law
These terms do not choose a governing law or an exclusive court. The law that applies is determined by the applicable legal rules, including any mandatory consumer protections where you live.Contact
