Which language would you like to practise?

Choose English, Spanish or French to see the available vocabulary collections and their sources. Each language has its own lists, organised by CEFR level. The guides explain what those labels cover and where the sources have limits, so you can choose vocabulary that fits your lessons, reading or family practice.

English

Explore English word lists: A1–C2 collections, level guides and public practice selections.

Spanish

Explore Spanish word lists: A1–C2 collections drawn from Instituto Cervantes curriculum inventories.

French

Explore French word lists: A1–C1 selections drawn from source examples, with notes on their coverage.

Where do the CEFR word lists come from?

The vocabulary sources differ by language. English combines Oxford word lists and topic classifications. Spanish uses Instituto Cervantes curriculum inventories. French uses vocabulary examples from an Eaquals publication. The linked source notes identify the original documents and explain how each collection was selected; the level labels do not certify a learner's overall proficiency.

Are you preparing for 11+ vocabulary questions?

Start with the 11+ vocabulary guide for advice on choosing words and building a practice routine. Then try the synonyms and antonyms questions with answers and explanations. These resources focus on question types children may encounter; a CEFR level is not an 11+ syllabus or a prediction of exam performance.
